Zoe Gilby

Zoe Gilby draws on a repertoire of jazz standards and original compositions written with her bassist husband, Andy Champion.

Moreover Zoe takes inspiration from the compositions of Cole Porter, Thelonious Monk and Duke Ellington. And her singing from the likes of Peggy Lee, Carmen McRae and Billie Holiday.

In addition she brings new dynamism to firm favourites such as “That Old Black Magic”, “Beginning to See the Light” and “Round Midnight”.

She also adds occasional contemporary covers to the mix and her own distinctive arrangements.

Because she has a wide vocal range and warm timbre to her voice she can therefore hold her own with the best.

Belated recognition

Zoe’s live performances sparkle with musical exuberance. And her  lively Geordie banter makes her a favourite with audiences. However, all this  is without ever compromising the dexterity of her singing or her  innovative arrangements.

With her most recent recording, Twelve Stories, she received wide recognition in the jazz press. She’s a singer, therefore, who has clearly found her own voice.
