Rebecca Nash & Sara Colman
Thursday 8th October 2026, 7pm, Colfox Academy Bridport
Two players, Rebecca Nash and Sara Colman, one long friendship, and a sound that soars! They and a secret Steinway Grand piano take centre stage at Colfox Academy in Bridport for an evening of jazz, folk and classical tunes. With Rebecca on piano and Sara on vocals this is the first in a series of Jazz Jurasica concerts in association with Colfox.
“Colman’s exquisite vocals meet Nash’s gift for gorgeous chord work — the result is simply stunning.
— Vibe
Jazz Jurassica Presents: a brand new concert series inside Colfox School, Bridport — built around a Steinway grand piano with a story of its own worth telling. First on stage: pianist Rebecca Nash and vocalist Sara Colman, two of the most accomplished musicians on today’s jazz scene.
The piano with a story
Every good gig starts somewhere. This one starts with a piano.
Colfox School’s head of music, Alison Davies, tells its story — how it arrived, why it matters, and what it means for pupils to learn on a Steinway rather than an old upright at the back of the hall. We asked her to tell it in her own words. You can watch her here.
And if you’re expecting a cold dusty old school hall as a venue – think again. Colfox has a state of the art auditorium which wouldn’t come amiss on the South Bank. With a pay bar and free on-site parking, this has to be one of the most impressive venues in the South West!
Rebecca & Sara
Rebecca Nash is a pianist, composer and educator with deep ties to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where she helps train the next wave of jazz musicians. Her writing leans on rich, unexpected harmony — the kind that rewards close listening.
Sara Colman is a singer and composer, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s first ever Recording Artist in Residence.
Colman’s voice carries the story in every song — direct, warm and completely unshowy.
The story behind the songs
In the summer of 2020, with the world on pause, Nash and Colman shut themselves away in a forest house for ten days. Just the two of them, a set of chickens, and a pile of half-written songs. Out of that came Ribbons — the title track of a collection that sits somewhere between jazz, folk and quiet confession. Early influences stretch from Joni Mitchell to British jazz pianist John Taylor, and you’ll hear both.
Why this matters
This isn’t just a gig. It’s the first night of something new — a proper concert series inside a school hall that happens to have one of the best pianos on the Jurassic Coast. Come along and you’re not just buying a ticket. You’re backing local music, live and close to home, and helping us build something that lasts.
